Solutions Architect

Ashton Education is located in Vancouver BC and delivers post-secondary education and online secure testing to a variety of students and test takers through its member network.

We are presently seeking a Solutions Architect to join our team. They will be responsible for planning and leading the implementation of organization level technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and translate existing solutions, spreadsheets, and business problems into holistic, well-designed, and architected solutions
  • Be a trusted adviser and subject matter expert to internal stakeholders in areas such as change management, business process design and redesign, process improvements and analytics
  • Serve as the product and architecture SME for large-scale implementations
  • Maintain and modify existing solutions by applying optimizations, new functionality, or scope extensions
  • Facilitate discovery sessions with staff to elicit business requirements and define project scope and design
  • Provide meaningful, timely feedback and progress updates to the COO and CEO
  • Support the design and configuration phase by overseeing the technical delivery of the project ensuring best practices and appropriate business process modeling are applied
  • Be responsible for internal initiatives and projects (pilot implementations, test cases, product feedback, internal projects)
  • Act as point of contact for external software suppliers when researching innovative solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years broad experience in software development or software implementation
  • Proven history of generating innovative and effective solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to explain complex technical topics in an easily digestible manner
  • Willingness to work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous project management experience is preferred
  • Technical certifications (Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, Google Professional Cloud etc.) are considered an asset
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Asana)
